African Family Enterprise

The African family business is the continent's dominant enterprise form and its most fragile. Businesses that took a generation to build are routinely lost in the transfer to the next one — not for want of commercial success, but for want of structure: no shareholders' agreement, no family constitution, no separation between family money and company money, and no agreed answer to who decides what when the founder is no longer there.

We work on that problem before it becomes a dispute. That means professionalising governance, documenting ownership, planning succession and estate structures, and putting the enterprise into a condition where external capital can be raised without the family losing control of what it built.
