African Purpose

Three commitments that shape how we advise, not three slogans.

A purpose that produces no programme, no leadership and no evidence is a sentiment. Each of these carries named partners, connected services and a signature output — and we expect to be measured on them.

Why this sits here

These are commercial and institutional design principles, not corporate social responsibility. They change how we structure, document and govern the work — which is the only way a purpose becomes visible to a client.

Helping African enterprises endure across generations — through governance, succession and access to capital.

The African family business is the continent's dominant enterprise form and its most fragile. Businesses that took a generation to build are routinely lost in the transfer to the next one — not for want of commercial success, but for want of structure: no shareholders' agreement, no family constitution, no separation between family money and company money, and no agreed answer to who decides what when the founder is no longer there.

Designing legitimacy-led solutions that respect stewardship, public accountability and institutional context.

Legitimacy is not decoration on a transaction; in African markets it is often the condition of the transaction proceeding at all. Projects that are technically lawful still fail when communities, custodians or the public do not accept how they were arrived at. Cultural and heritage value is also, increasingly, commercial value — in brands, geographical identity, creative industries and the assets institutions hold in trust.

Structuring cross-border investment and trade so it is financeable, compliant and enforceable across jurisdictions.

The African Continental Free Trade Area makes integration a policy fact. It does not yet make it an operational one. A business moving goods, capital or services across African borders still meets divergent regulators, unaligned tax treatment, inconsistent standards and the practical question of whether a judgment or award obtained in one jurisdiction means anything in the next.

These commitments are meant to be tested.
