We act for a client only once we have completed our conflict and client-acceptance checks and confirmed the engagement in writing. Until we have written to you accepting instructions, we are not your advocates.
We become your advocates when we say so in writing — not before.

Information you send us before we have accepted instructions may not attract legal professional privilege, and we may already be acting for another party with an interest adverse to yours.
So please tell us enough to identify the nature of the matter and to let us run a conflict check — and hold the detail until we have written back to you confirming that we can act.
Where we are qualified
Our advocates are admitted to practise in Uganda and advise on Ugandan law. We work on cross-border and continental matters, and we describe regional and continental frameworks on this site, but we do not advise on the domestic law of another jurisdiction unless we have been specifically engaged to do so and have said so in writing.
Experience described on this site
Matters described on this site are illustrative. Where a client cannot be named, the matter is presented anonymised by sector and role, and some mandates are withheld entirely pending the client's written consent.
The outcome of any matter depends on its own facts. Previous outcomes are not a prediction or a guarantee of the result in any other matter.
Professional regulation
Ligomarc Advocates is a firm of advocates practising in Uganda. Our advocates are subject to the Advocates Act, to the professional conduct rules made under it, and to the supervision of the Uganda Law Society.
